I was recently the bidder on an auction that I discovered had shill bidding going on. I checked on one of the bidders and found that they had ONLY bid on that seller's items. I checked further and found two other ID's that ONLY bid on that seller's items. This shill bidding activity affected MANY auctions. I reported this to eBay, and they NARU'ed the Seller and the three Shill Bidder ID's. I checked a few days later and found that the Seller was no longer NARU'ed, but the Shill Bidders still were. I find this very disturbing that eBay would allow a seller back that has stolen from many eBay bidders.

I have given thought to emailing those affected and telling them something like:

"I thought you would be interested to know that you may have been a victim of shill bidding when you bid on Xseller's item. The seller and another bidder on that auction (Ybidder) were reported to eBay for shill bidding, but only the bidder was NARU'ed. If you do not believe that was fair or feel that you should be refunded the money that you overpaid, report Xseller to eBay at safeharbor@ebay.com".

Would this get me in hot water with eBay? They don't seem concerned that this seller has, if effect, stolen from the bidders.

I would be interested to see what the eBay community has to say about this topic.

Thanks!
