The time has come to get started on the scholarship Thunderdome competition. Final Images are due December 15th. In this thread you wil find the info for the 2d competition only. We will be announcing the 3d contest info shortly.
The 2d competition is as simple as this. If you are competing, the info is below.
2D competitors- Design the biggest toughest, most BAD-ASS boss monster ever to be seen in a video game or movie. The subject matter is up to you. Who is this boss? Who is this final enemy? Who is this adversary? That is what we want to see!
1. two pages of thumbnail sketches. Black and white.
2. one polished black and white front view design.
3. one page action/movement studies/sketches. Black and white.
4. Black and white orthographs- (front, side, back)
5. Full color image of boss with background environment.
For those of you doing 2d, this is exactly the kind of thing your portfolio will need in order to secure a job as a concept artist. You need to not just be able to paint and illustrate, but also think, show process work, show production art (ortho's) and even show your thumbnail phase. Your goal is to create the badass boss monster/enemy for a film or game. Our goal is to be sure you have what you need in your portfolio to secure a job after school. Are you ready? we will find out soon!
Points will be tallied in these categories:
1-media handling-technique
2-idea development-this is the big one...50 percent of the points awarded will come from this category.
3.- presentation
DO NOT POST YOUR IMAGES UNTIL DECEMBER 15th's DEADLINE!!!!!
