The WHAT's!

Massive Black and Conceptart.org are proud to announce our educational scholarships for the digital and traditional art community. The first scholarships total $10,000.00. That's right, FREE MONEY! Have you been working hard in school? Have you been working even harder outside of school? Are you ready to show that you have your shit together? Well, we hope that there are some deserving of this. We believe there are.

The WHO's

The first is a 5000.00 scholarship for 2d artists in third year and above (post-graduate students eligible) who are specializing in the field of "concept design".

The second is a 5000.00 dollar scholarship for artists studying the 3D arts (modeling, animation, texturing, lighting). This scholarship is also for third year and above.

The WHERE's

Scholarships are for accredited universities, certificate programs, and ateliers. One of the things that most frusterated me as an artist in school was being limited to where I could study if I chased a scholarship. To be honest, we do not care where you study. If you are a hard working student who really is making your dreams come true, then we will see it in your submission and do our best to help by giving you support.

The WHEN's

These Scholarships are for the SPRING 2006 Semester.

The HOW's

We will be announcing full details shortly. However, criteria for awarding this funding will be based on the below categories.

1. 1 page Bio with Resume - Who the hell are you?

2. 1 page essay. Why do you want to do this, what are your dreams? The subject matter of the essay is up to you. Be honest, show some creativity, and most of all, just be yourself.

3. PORTFOLIO- 8-12 images of your best work or avi/mpegs of your animation (if competing for the 3d scholarship). You all should know by junior year what is expected in portfolios.

4. THUNDERDOME COMPETITION!- Each entrant must compete in the scholarship Thunderdome. You see, bio's, essays, and portfolios do not really mean much if you can't go out and show your skills under pressure. If you really deserve this, you will kick some ass in t-dome too. More info will be announced soon.

All categories are seperately scored and weighted. Judging will be by industry professionals and educators. Judges will be announced as well.

More details to come as this week goes on.

-may the best artists win.
