I discovered a bug today where I couldn't paint with the Round X-Soft Pastel 30 brush in clone mode. It just seemed to leave the odd dirty pixel on the screen no matter how hard I pressed on the graphics tablet (I tried the mouse too) and opacity was 60% (I tried 100% too). When I switched to the Round X-Soft Pastel 20 brush it worked fine.

First I closed and reopened Painter, no change, then I tried the option to Restore Default Variant, still no change. I rebooted and copied back my backup folder of brushes but still no change.

When I checked out the Corel website, I found the bit where it said that if you launch with the shift key held down it restores everything, so I did this and wonderful everything works OK now. I don't know if I lost anything important by doing that restore, but it is working OK.

Has anyone else noticed this kind of problem and also is there anything I might have lost in the restore.

Overall i wold not consider Painter 9.

I got lots of trouble in my german IX.

I find the new version much more stable than the previous one.

If you're experiencing problems, I'd suggest running a spyware/adware ...

I have noe spyware on my PC as I use Ad-Aware and NOD32 permanently.

While testing it with the Corel guys in Montreal, one of our roommates...

I don't know why but i have a file that just keeps on crashing.
