Hi,
For you clients and employers out there who are not in the position to pay an artist or consultant for a job. I would suggest that you offer some other kind of form of payment which would intrigue them to want to produce the work your looking for.
For example: If your a known company and it's proven that by accepting your offer, the artist will gain exposure and you will provide a link to their website and give them credit as having created the work as well as allow them to retain the copyright to the work, that is at least "something".
You could also offer other payment plans such as royalties, which would be paid to the artist as a percentage of all income you make off of the work they produce. This works out for you since at the time you are unable to pay them, but once you start to make money, than they will be paid for their hard work.
