Hi!

I’m one of the producers at a fledgling game company, Klikaro Games (http://www.klikarogames.com.) Unfortunately, we simply do not have, nor can we acquire, the capital we need to establish an office and to pay our employees. Therefore, we’ve since decided that the best way to get started is to create a game modification (also known as simply a “mod”), which, for those who don’t know, is taking an existing game engine and creating another game using its tools, and distributing it free to those who already own the core game. This would prove to investors that we can, in fact, ship a product, and therefore should be eligible for loans and/or other financial backing. To that end, we’ve created our mod’s site (http://oaken.klikarogames.com), created a mod idea, gotten some team members, and we’re working hard on a mod for Half-Life 2, using the Source engine.

We are looking for talented Artists to help with the creation of concepts for our upcoming mod, and also to create artwork for the accompanying website(s). Please note that this is job comes WITHOUT pay. However, upon completion of the project, we plan to start a company based in the Los Angeles, California area with the same name, and if your work is quality, and you stay on throughout the life of the mod, we will offer you the option of a paid job with us (fulltime or part-time, whichever you prefer.)

For those of you trying to crack your way into the gaming industry, it is a proven fact that having a completed mod on your portfolio greatly increases your chances of getting a job with a videogame company. Shipping a product is far more impressive than having a degree from school X. Mod teams will give you a chance where others would not, and they’re a great place to start your career.

We strive to create an environment that is as versatile as possible here at Klikaro Games. You can be as silly and playful as you’d like, or as professional as you’d like, as long as you get your work done. Everyone is perfectly welcome to contribute to other areas of design where they feel they can help, and every team member is treated equally, regardless of skill level or experience. We feel it is this type environment that most fosters creativity and efficiency.

Your location is unimportant, as all work and communication will be done via our website and accompanying web-based tools.
