Posted at January 16, 2006, 12:40 pm: Last year I wrote a letter to eBay about their rate increase on their fees and how much it had effected my business. I was already reduced from a Power Seller to just a seller because sales were beginning to slump downward. I was very surprised to find out that several folks used it as an advantage to move on and use their Web Sites as a sales site, or moved on to other auction sites. But, as I hear today a lot of those folks have returned finding out that most of the other auctions cannot come close to providing them with near the results that eBay provided. However it really effected my business because I provide services to the Mentally Handicap through the State. We pay the State and teach these kids different skills such as packing, posting, adding descriptions, photos, learning about different items, and so on. When eBay increased their fees we had no choice but to drop this program and do all the work ourselfs. Now I am hearing that they are having a meeting with the powersellers to discuss a possible cost reduction. One powerseller mentioned he had hoped that they take care of only the powerseller as if us regular sellers didn't count. If this information is incorrect then I am sorry for bringing it up, but one thing I have to say is it is about time that eBay faces the trueth and give us a break since we the people are the only reason they even exsist.
