Posted at April 27, 2005, 9:57 pm: I'm on the wrong end of a PayPal chargeback and wanted to pass this info along to those who accept PayPal payments for auctions, stores, etc. Luckily, this is only a $4.99 claim (but it could be worse in many cases). Scenario: Complaint: The buyer has filed a claim stating that he is dissatisfied with this transaction. To review the different ways you can resolve this claim, please click "Resolve Complaint Now" below. We must receive your response by May 3, 2005. If we do not receive a response from you by the deadline, the claim will be decided in the buyer's favor. a) Buyer files claim with PayPal for non-receipt (5 days ago). Never contacted me, though she claims she did. Resolution: b) PayPal gives me 3 options to settle this claim .... 1. Issue the buyer a full refund. 2. I can provide tracking information. 3. The buyer has already been refunded and I can provide proof of the previous refund. PayPal will review the information and determine whether the claim can be closed. Thank you for your cooperation. It's her word against mine, and there is not even an option to give my side of the story. Buyer wins. Beware!!! Now, I've contacted this person every day, for four days, to see if this stupid book arrived. No response. Looked at her feedback and see she did the same thing to another buyer a couple months back. According to the options provided by PayPal (see above), the seller is completely at the mercy of the buyer unless Delivery Confirmation (on items under $250) was purchased. Over $250 requires a signature from the buyer. My mistake? Didn't purchase D.C. My own fault but if I don't get this dropped, buyer will receive a big fat NEG. Warning!!! If you are accepting PayPal payments, make sure you read the fine print (and there's lots of it) or you are NOT protected.
