eBay Trims Some User Fees

Weeks after a move to raise listing fees on its auction site created an uproar, eBay (EBAY:Nasdaq - news - research) offered an olive branch to sellers in the form of lowering some fees and improving customer service.

But if the moves patch up some of the damage done to its customers, some worry that it may come at the expense of operating margins.

I quit the auction scene about 4 years ago when my Ebay bill hit $1600. Since then I have done a few clearance sales on Ebay with each sale (about once a year) going worse than the previous. This year I decided I would no longer do any buying nor selling on Ebay.
The bloom has definitely died off the auction game.
I run my own websites and do far, far better now than I ever did with Ebay and I pay way less than $300 a month for all of my websties and 1-800! LOL!
It takes more work and more marketing savvy but it's well worth the effort.
It seems even all those junk "get rich quick on Ebay" infomercials are not helping Ebay much. A lot of folks have a real intense dislike towards Ebay and especially Paypal. I think that comes from too much success too quickly and no competition. Now I think the better sellers have moved on to brick and morter and or their own webstores.
Some crafty folks no doubt still make a bundle on Ebay but for the most part the party is over.Chance favors the prepared
