Posted at June 28, 2013, 8:39 pm: In march, *during a period of serious overtraining noob-style taking every set to failure on a bodypart split thing* I pulled/tore/damaged something in my shoulder which I have assumed is my rotator cuff. It came on suddenly one afternoon when I pulled my arm back behind my head (like i was gripping a bar) to practice weightless squats, i consciously pulled my arm too far back and the pain started from there. The next morning i couldn;t lift my arm to shampoo my hair in the shower. I took it pretty easy for 2 months, and i started doing rippetoe's program with added rotator cuff work once i could start lifting light to moderate weights again. I progressed to near pr's and then it got worse again. I stopped for the summer and now for the past few weeks have been doing a shoulder rehab program. I do something like: warm-up stretches cuban rotations (10lbs dbs x 3 sets) lying side laterals (5lbs x 2 sets) lying external rotations (5lbs x 1 set) stretches i take advil every couple hours after (the routine leaves both shoulders sore (sometimes the good one) but the bad arm is definitely worse I do this routine on a 1 on 2 off basis (unless my shoulder is still sore or bothering me badly) My shoulder still bothers me though like a dull ache taht if i aggravate (stretch, lift something) turns into a more acute pain. It's always with me and im constantly aware of it. I want to know if i should ignore it, see someone about it, start a program in teh fall anyway, change my shoudler "rehab" routine. Will this always bother me like this or am i doing something wrong. Any body have a similar situation they can share.
