Are the first 4 weeks of Bill Starr's 5x5 intermediate program really neccesary? For those of you unfamiliar, the first 4 weeks serve to get up to your 5 rep max. I've already been doing my 5 rep max every week for a while now, so I'm thinking I'm gonna cut right to week five. Is that alright?

What really takes a bit to get used to is squatting 3x a week.
