One of my workout partners insists that this exercise is great for chest day, but I am highly skeptical.

The exercise involves taking a bench over to the squat rack and resting the barbell above the bench on the side bars of the squat rack (putting cushions on each side). He will then put a weight on each side (more than one could normally do a full press) and moves the bar up about 4 inches and lowers it back down. Basically it is a partial ROM exercise but to me it seems a at the least a little silly. Has anyone else ever heard of this? He calls it "Finishers" - but that could be made up.
