I'm doing the 5x5 program and I know that for monday and fridays workout the flat bench is a part of it, however, I remember someone quoting bill starr on these forums of him saying that incline bench was more beneficial for strength and function rather than the flat bench, and that the only reason why bill starr incorporated a flat bench instead of incline was because flat benches were more common than incline benches...so which lift is more beneficial for developing strength, incline bench press or flat bench press? Thank you in advance.

You can do a kickback or curl the bar once it's deadlifted.

I would think incline for strength and function.

Why not flat Monday and incline Friday?

Stay with the flat bench and just replace the standing military press ...

why not just do both? they are the 2 best chest exercises
