I would like to have a strong core for rugby. I do hanging leg raises and swiss ball situps mostly for my abs, side bends for whatever those muscles at the side are called, and of course deadlift for my lower back. Side bends and deadlift are going well, but 20 and 30 rep sets of leg raises and situps is getting old really fast. Should I use some plates or dumbells for resistance or are 20 and 30 rep sets pretty standard for ab exercises? Thanks. Also, I have read the abdominal faq up top, but it recommends a high rep scheme. I remember someone pointing out that the abs are like any muscle, and need resistance training to get strong. This guy went on to say that you don't get hugs legs by doing low weight, high rep squats all day. I thought it was a good point.

start working towards holding a front lever/front lever pull ups.

Start weighting your hanging leg raises.

Do some overhead squats, they will show you how strong your core is
