i always see people in my gym use this machine for various exercises including squats,upright row,bench,military,shrugs, ext......i was wondering how effective using this machine is compared to free weights??? and which exercises are ok to do...

Squats are bad on the smith machine, stay away.

it is effective if you have no training partner, because you can obvio...

with free weights, you are working the stablizer muscles more than the...

if you want to use it for bench press becuase you dont have a spotter,...
