eBay announced that they were rolling up several of their sub categories into the major categories in a step to make it easier for sellers to select the appropriate listing category and to make their product finder more efficient.

I'm not sure if it really makes a difference any longer which category you list an item in. My feeling is that any experienced eBay buyer uses the search engine/product finder to do most eBay shopping/browsing. I guess newbies might use the browse by category features for awhile, but do you think the category roll ups will have much of an affect on that? The only advantage I can see of using the browse feature at all is to snap up low priced items that are either newly listed with Buy It Now or those that are nearing the end with no bids.
