I don't know if i'm doing the dead lifts right. My friend/work out partner is very reluctant to do them because he believes it will screw up his back.
I started doing dead lifts a few days ago, and after doing like 3 sets of 10s using an 80 lb barbell my back, the next day, my back was sore. And today I did 3 sets of 10s using a 90 lb barbell, and I can already feel soreness.
I keep the bar as close to my ankles as possible, with my butt near my heels. Then I push upward with my legs and straighten my back/hips. I try to keep my back as straight as possible. Repeat. Am I doing this right? I just realized that with my butt near my ankles, my back cant be fully straight. But if I don't go down that low, I feel that I'm bending over too horizontally.

My back is ALWAYS a little sore the day after deadlifts.
