Let me start by saying that I think that - by far - the worst auction deal on the internet may be Yahoo Auctions. The buyer traffic is just way too low to justify any listing fees at all. Final fee values - sure - but no listing fees. That being said...

I got a very nice email this morning from Yahoo Auctions letting me know that they've charged my account a $5 monthly fee for the priviledge of accepting Yahoo HSBC Paydirect. Realize that I've been listing Yahoo auctions on and off for 2 years, and I've never had a single buyer actually use Yahoo Paydirect. Paydirect charges just slightly lower than Paypal (2.4% + .30/trans) - but now they have added a $5 monthly service charge. Needless to say, I am cancelling that account this morning.

I would be very curious what sellers would pay $5/month for a service seldom used. It's not too far to predict that many sellers will react the same way I did.

As if Yahoo auctions needed any more reasons to fail...
